OCTOBER 5, 2007 - 1st District Congressional Candidate Dean Scontras Announces 3rd Quarter Fundraising Results

Eliot, Maine - Republican 1st District Congressional candidate Dean Scontras announced today that his campaign received approximately $92,000 in contributions from July 12th to September 30th of 2007. The Dean Scontras for Congress Committee received contributions from 267 individuals representing all six counties in Maine's 1st Congressional District.

"I am very pleased with the results," commented Scontras. "This is my first time out, and with no prior fundraising list and no base of support from a previous campaign, our early progress has exceeded my expectations."

"I am most proud of the breadth of support I have received," continued Scontras. "I've received contributions from sitting and retired legislators, current and former town, county and state party chairs, registered Democrats, Republicans and Independents, people who haven't voted in a long time, and folks who have never voted or donated to a political campaign before."

"There seems to be a real appetite for a reform-minded political outsider in the 1st District, someone who will listen to what Mainers are saying more than they will talk. I understand that the best solutions to the problems facing Maine and America come from Maine's citizens and not from career politicians or Washington bureaucrats," concluded Scontras.

One of the most exciting aspects of Dean's fundraising report is the high percentage of on-line donations received by the campaign. 46% of Dean's campaign contributions were made on-line through the campaign's official website, www.teamdean08.com.

"We set out to have the website serve as the central nervous system for the campaign," said campaign manager Mike Pajak, "and we make sure that the site is updated constantly to reflect the high level of energy, enthusiasm and activity that Dean brings to the effort. This is Republican 2.0!"

"TeamDean08.com has received more than 16,000 unique visits since its launch on July 12th and over 3,000 people have signed up to receive our campaign updates. Hundreds of folks who have not yet had the opportunity to meet Dean have learned about his candidacy by watching some of his speeches on our YouTube Channel. Dean's message about the need for a reform-minded political outsider is resonating with the people he meets. This quarter's fundraising results reflect that," concluded Pajak.

Dean will file his official 3rd Quarter report prior to the October 15th deadline mandated by the Federal Elections Commission.
