Becomes Second Candidate for Federal Office in America to Adopt Slatecard.com

Portland, ME - Candidate for Congress in Maine's 1st Congressional District Dean Scontras has adopted Slatecard as the primary online mechanism for his campaign's fundraising effort. Slatecard is an online utility designed to support and enhance Republican activism. Upon its launch, Slatecard was called a "Facebook for Republican campaign donors" by Wired.com. Scontras is the second candidate to use Slatecard to safely and securely process online donations. The first is Kevin O'Neill, candidate for Virginia's First Congressional District. On November 6, less than a month after its launch, Slatecard announced that it had already helped raise more than $51K for Republican candidates.

"It is no secret that Democrats are far ahead of Republicans in converting their online presence to offline support," said Scontras.

"One website which the Left uses effectively is ActBlue.com. More than 30 million dollars has been raised through that site since it launched in 2004, as you can see by looking at the fundraising numbers of the Democrats in this race. It is our hope that Slatecard will level the playing field for my campaign and for all Republican candidates. It is time for us to move beyond the cocktail parties and country club luncheons as our primary fundraising tools," concluded Scontras.

Slatecard was co-founded by David All and Sendhil Panchadsaram in 2007. The online political-action committee was born when All challenged his blog readers in March to help him build an online mechanism that would pull the Republicans into the internet age. The two built the site from scratch in their spare time on nights and weekends.

A third generation Maine native born and raised in Kittery, Dean Scontras is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination in Maine's open 1st Congressional District. He currently resides in Eliot with his wife Dawn and their two children, Jack and Zoe.
