14, 2008 - Conservative Talk Show Host Ray Richardson Endorses
Scontras for Congress!
Richardson Calls Scontras "Republicans'
Best Hope to Win 1st District Seat"
PORTLAND, Maine - Ray Richardson, co-host of the Fox Morning
News Show on WLOB and Fox 23, today made public his endorsement
of Dean Scontras, Republican candidate for Maine's 1st Congressional
District. A vocal proponent of traditional conservative values,
Richardson has long used his daily program to tout the need
for Republicans to return to those conservative roots that
have been the trademark of the GOP.
"I have thought a lot about this campaign and what it
means to Maine and our nation," said Richardson. "The
issues that matter most to me, traditional conservative issues
that Ronald Reagan espoused so well, I believe Dean Scontras
embodies. Dean is strong on national security, fully understands
the economic challenges facing Maine citizens and our nation
and has consistently displayed a commitment to traditional
conservative cultural issues."
"I am also convinced by Dean's energetic campaign that
he is the candidate who is capable of beating whomever the
Democrats nominate," continued Richardson. "It will
take someone with Dean's fire to win this. Not only is he
right on the issues, he is also a tireless campaigner. Dean
seems to be everywhere at once throughout the district."
"I am very proud to have earned Ray's support,"
said Scontras. "This endorsement is more than a big boost
to the campaign. This means a great deal to me personally.
I have a great deal of respect for Ray and his ability to
consistently and passionately defend conservatism on a daily
basis. I have already been heartened by the show of support
from voters around the district. I look forward to the increased
momentum that will certainly come as a result of this important
endorsement."
The announcement comes one week after Scontras' most recent
appearance on the popular radio program, (view Part 1 and
Part 2 here) heard from 6 - 9 a.m. each day on 96.3 FM, 1310
AM, and simulcast on the Fox 23 television network.
